Following are pictures about some of the towns that I visited in Sénégal.

Saint Louis

Saint Louis is a nice colonial town. Lots of old French colonial buildings. Most of it is located on an island, the Île de N'Dar, and the Langue de Barbarie Peninsula, connected by bridges with the mainland.

The Island of Saint-Louis is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Dakar

Dakar is similar to any city in Africa, lots of traffic, and lots of people trying to sell you something. It is located on a peninsula, with just one road in and out. The traffic on that road is horrendous. We were in one of the worst traffic jams that I had ever seen, almost as bad as the traffic jam that I experienced in Russia in Moscow.

Mud bricks formed locally for local construction. Most buildings in smaller town and villages are made with mud bricks. They need to renewed annually after the rainy season. Every village has a big mud hole next to it from which the village was built. (835k)
