Valley of the Queens

The Valley of the Queens held the burial places of the wives of the Pharaohs. There are some fantastic tombs with exquisite paintings in that valley, if anything they are more impressive than the ones in the Valley of the Kings.

Queen Nefertari was the most important consort of Ramesses II. She was buried in a very elaborately decorated tomb.

Osirisnet.net has detailed descriptions of many of the tombs around Thebes (Luxor) in the Valley of the Queens.

The Valley of the Queens is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Ancient Thebes with its Necropolis.
