In January 2018 I went on a sailing ship cruise through the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean with Sail Windjammer on the S/V Mandalay. Saint Barthélemy was one of the stops on this cruise. We arrived in Saint Barthélemy after an overnight cruise from Saint Kitts and Nevis. From Saint Barth we continued on a short afternoon cruise to Philipsburg, Sint Maarten, our final destination.
Saint Barthélemy, called Ouanalao by the indigenous people, is an overseas collectivity of France in the West Indies. It lies about 35 km (22 miles) southeast of St. Martin and 60 km (37 miles) north of St. Kitts. Saint Barthélemy, a volcanic island fully encircled by shallow reefs, has an area of 25 km² (10 square miles) and a population of 9,278 (January 2013 census).
It is an island for the rich. You can see that by the luxury yachts and the expensive stores in Gustavia. I didn't spend much time in Gustavia. We then relocated further north to Anse de Colombier, where we spent some time at the beach.
Pictures of birds are on a separate page, combined for all the islands in the Caribbean:
