Hu was the personification of the Divine Utterance, the Voice of the Gods (see Egyptian Mythology). Hu was very important to the Pharaohs as the Voice of Command. Hu was also the companion of the Pharaoh in the Afterlife. The Sphinx is believed to be a representation of Hu.
